Darren Suen has been with the San Joaquin Area Flood Control Agency (SJAFCA) since January 2025 as the Executive Director. 

Darren is a licensed civil engineer and has previously worked for several of SJAFCA's partner agencies, including as a project manager for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, as chief of the Flood Operations Center for the CA Department of Water Resources, and as a principal water resources engineer with the CA Central Valley Flood Protection Board. Most recently he served as a chief of staff in the CA Assembly. Darren has a BS in Civil Engineering from Cal Poly and holds an Executive MBA from the University of Phoenix.
